Learned borrowing from Koine Greek ἀναψυκτήριον (anapsuktḗrion, “recreational place”), from the past stem ἀναψυκ- (anapsuk-) of ἀναψύχω (anapsúkhō, “to cool, refresh”) + -τήριον (-tḗrion), with semantic loan from German Εrfrischungsraum.[1]
