Uncertain. Beekes notes that, if it derives from κέλομαι (kélomai, to urge, exhort), the -ευ- 'remains unexplained', and compares it to the -ευ- found in κέλευθος (kéleuthos, road) and τελευτή (teleutḗ, end; tip).[1]
