Perhaps via Volga Turki from Ottoman Turkish بیوك (büyük, big, large), from Proto-Turkic *bedük (big) (compare Old Uyghur (bedük, big, large), Old Uyghur (beδük, high).[1]), from Proto-Turkic *bedü- (to grow, become large).[2]
