From Proto-Permic . Cognates include Komi-Permyak вичку (vićku) and Udmurt вуко (vuko, “mill”).
The first part of the original compound is uncertain. The second part derives from Proto-Permic *kad, from Proto-Uralic *kota (whence Finnish kota (“shelter”) and Hungarian ház (“house”)).
