Ukrainian
Etymology
Inherited from Old Ukrainian вовъторъкъ (vovtork), овъторъкъ (ovtork), ultimately from Proto-Slavic *vъtorъkъ. Compare Belarusian аўто́рак (aŭtórak).
The word likely received prothetic "о" at some point, though the source of this vowel is unknown.[1]
Sometimes alternatively explained as being equivalent to [2] though this is much less plausible.
