Inherited from Proto-Slavic *trošiti (“to crumble”), with no exact synonyms in other Slavic languages. Morphologically identical to Macedonian троши (troši, “to deplete”), Serbo-Croatian тро̀шити (“to spend”), Russian потроши́ть (potrošítʹ, “to paunch”).
