Cognate with Old Uyghur (šuŋqar, Falco gyrfalco);[1] Tatar шоңкар (şoñkar, falcon), Kazakh сұңқар (sūñqar, falcon), Kyrgyz шумкар (şumkar, Falco rusticolus), Uzbek shunqor (Falco rusticolus).
