Compare especially Parthian 𐫤𐫡𐫘 𐫏𐫉𐫅𐫀𐫗 (trs yzdʾn /⁠Tars-yazdān⁠/, “a male given name”, literally “fearing god”), Classical Syriac ܡܝܗܪܛܪܣ (myhrṭrs /⁠Mihr-Tars⁠/, “a male given name from Iranian”, literally “full of respect for Mithra”), and Middle Persian (tlsʾk' /⁠tarsāg⁠/, “Christian”, literally “(God) fearer”) (Persian ترسا (tarsâ)).
