Etymology
Certainly a Middle Iranian borrowing, but the underlying formation is uncertain. Asatrian explains it as *āwā̆zāk (“carrying away”), an agent noun from the preverb *aH- + *waȷ́ʰ- (“to carry”). For the suffix see -ակ (-ak).
