Old Armenian

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *weh₂(-dʰ)-mi, from *weh₂dʰ-.

The verb is suppletive: part of the conjugation is filled by the root եկ- (ek-), inherited from Proto-Indo-European *gʷem-. The 3rd person singular aorist եկն (ekn) reflects the original root aorist *h₁é-gʷem-t. The Armenian aorist augment ե- (e-) had spread throughout the paradigm and became a part of the root. See also եկ (ek).
