Etymology
According to Perikhanian, the sense “thin plate” is from Iranian *drubaka-/*draubaka- (“upper layer; peel”), from *draub- (“to scrape off”); compare Sogdian (žōβa-, “peel, rind”) and perhaps Ossetian рӕдувын (ræduvyn, “to scrape”). The sense “chapter” is perhaps from Parthian *dōδβāγ (“double; folded twice; scroll”). The two senses were conflated in Armenian.
