The present լիք- (likʻ-) +‎ -ան- (-an-) is a remodelling of Proto-Indo-European *linékʷti, nasal-infix present of *leykʷ-. The aorist ելիք (elikʻ), լիք (likʻ) is from Proto-Indo-European *(h₁é-)likʷet, thematic root aorist of *leykʷ-.
