Certainly an Iranian borrowing, but the exact source is uncertain.

Perhaps from a descendant of Proto-Iranian *hwar- (“to take, grasp”), in the sense "to grasp in mind": compare Khotanese (hvarāka-, “grasping; robber”).^[1] Further connections outside of Iranian uncertain; see Cheung for more.^[2]
