According to Meillet, cognate with Ancient Greek κυλλός (kullós, “deformed, crippled, crooked”). This is accepted with reservation by J̌ahukyan, who derives both from Proto-Indo-European *(s)kel- (“to bend, crook”), positing pre-Armenian *kʰōl-.
