Etymology 2

From Proto-Indo-European *ǵh₂lōws (sister-in-law), which should have given *ծալ (*cal), but the anlaut was modified under the influence of տագր (tagr). Ačaṙyan accepts this etymology, but remarks that Laz და (da, sister), plural და́ლეფე (dálepe), points to a stem დალ- (dal-), “should not be forgotten”.
