More likely borrowed from Anatolian, from the same Proto-Indo-European root: compare Luwian (taruu̯al-, “mortar”), Hittite 𒄑𒋻𒉿𒀀𒇷 (GIŠtar-wa-a-li /tarwāli-/, “an implement used for grinding or crushing, probably pestle”).[5][6]
