From Proto-Indo-European *dru-rā-mo (“firm, solid”), which is related to *dóru (“tree”). Cognate with Proto-Germanic *trumaz (“firm, strong”), Ancient Greek δροόν (droón, “strong, mighty”), Latin dūrus (“hard, rough”).[1][2]
