Etymology

Literally "shovel for excrements" from փին (pʻin, excrement) +‎ թի (tʻi, shovel). For such a figurative usage compare Constantinople dialect քաքի քյուրեք (kʻakʻi kʻyurekʻ, literally shit-shovel), հարկավորի / գործարանի / քենեֆի ավել (harkavori / gorcarani / kʻenefi avel, literally toilet-broom), which are similarly used as an adjective or adverb meaning "slovenly".[1]
