   • a. 217 C.E., Mishnah, Bava Batra 1:1:

     מָקוֹם שֶׁנָּהֲגוּ לִבְנוֹת גָּוִיל גָּזִית כְּפִיסִין לְבֵנִים בּוֹנִים הַכֹּל כְּמִנְהַג הַמְּדִינָה

     a place where the custom is to build rough stone, smooth stone, half-bricks, or bricks, they build , all is according to the custom of the land.

     Whoever learns from his fellow one chapter or one halakha or one verse or one word, or even one letter, should behave toward him with respect.
