Verb

أَرَادَ • (ʔarāda) IV, non-past يُرِيدُ‎ (yurīdu)

1. to want, will

   أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَنْصَرِفَ. ― ʔurīdu ʔan ʔanṣarifa. ― I want to leave.

   الشَّعْبُ يُرِيدُ إِسْقَاطَ النِّظَامِ. ― aš-šaʕbu yurīdu ʔisqāṭa n-niẓāmi. ― The people want the toppling of the regime.

2. (of an inanimate object, figuratively) to be about to

   Synonym: أَوْشَكَ (ʔawšaka)

     فَوَجَدَا فِيهَا جِدَارًا يُرِيدُ أَن يَنْقَضَّ فَأَقَامَهُ
