Inherited from Sanskrit *उद्ध्वलति (uddhvalati). Cognate with Saraiki اُدَّھلَݨ (uddahlaṇ, “to elope”), Urdu اُدَھلْنا (udhalnā, “to be intoxicated, sinful”) / Hindi उधलना (udhalnā), Gujarati ઉધળવું (udhaḷvũ) and Marathi उधळणे (udhaḷṇe).
