Akin to Parthian 𐭕‎𐭊𐭓𐭐𐭕𐭉 (t‎krpty, “cupbearer”), as well as to Old Armenian տակառ (takaṙ, “barrel, cask”), տակառապետ (takaṙapet, “cupbearer”), Old Georgian ტაგარი (ṭagari, “clay bowl/pitcher; grapepressing trough”), Jewish Babylonian Aramaic טנגירא, Classical Syriac ܛܢܓܝܪܐ (ṭangīrā) → Arabic طَنْجِير (ṭanjīr, “pot”), Jewish Babylonian Aramaic תִּיגָרָא (tīḡārā) → Arabic تِيغَار (tīḡār, “pot”), Middle Iranian borrowings.

In spite of this variation of form and meaning, Ancient Greek τάγηνον (tágēnon) and τήγανον (tḗganon, “saucepan”) and Latin tēgula (“baking tile”) are just coincidentally similar. Likewise the jars Malay takar, Javanese and Balinese taker point to a distinct local term.
