Persian

Etymology
From earlier توبان (tôbân), from Middle Persian, Lurish تمو (temo). Akin to Arabic تُبَّان (tubbān) from the same. Borrowed early into Turkic, Ottoman Turkish طومان (tuman), Azerbaijani tuman. Ultimately derived as equivalent to تن (tan, “body”) + ـبان (-bân, “-keeper”) – similar to تنوره (tanura, “cuirass, corselet; a part of dress worn by dervishes from their middle”), better known as Arabic تَنُّورَة (tannūra), with a different suffix.
