      From Middle Persian *dār-i-čēnīk (literally Chinese tree), ultimately a combination of Old Persian 𐎭𐎠𐎽𐎢𐎺 (d-a-ru-u-v, tree) + Sanskrit चीन (cīna, China) + -𐎡𐎣 (-i-k, adjectival suffix, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *-ikas).
