Merger of two near-synonymous verbs:

• درفشیدن (derafšidan, “to glitter; to tremble; to flutter”, from Middle Persian (dlfš /⁠drafš⁠/, “banner; flag”))
• رخشیدن (raxšidan, “to shine”, from Sogdian (rwxšn /⁠roxšan⁠/, “bright”)).

درخشیدن • (deraxšidan) (present stem درخش (deraxš))

1. (intransitive) to shine; to luster; to sheen; to coruscate; to glister; to glint

   Synonym: تابیدن (tâbidan)

     عقل می‌خواست کز آن شعله چراغ افروزد
