Apparently related to the Sogdian borrowing زغار (zağâr, “damp soil”), as زغیر (zeğir), زغر (zeğer) and زغار (zağâr) are all given as a kind of food or cereal (طَعَام (ṭaʕām)) by Burhān-i Qāṭiʼ.
