faḵaraja maliyyan waʕāda baṭiyyan, waqāla: qadi ḵtartuhu kamā rasamta, faʔaḵaḏnā ʔilā l-ḥammāmi s-samta, waʔataynāhu falam nara qawwāmahu, lākinnī daḵaltuhu wadaḵala ʕalā ʔaṯarī rajulun waʕamada ʔilā qiṭʕati ṭīnin falaṭṭaḵa bihā jabīnī, wawaḍaʕahā ʕalā raʔsī, ṯumma ḵaraja wadaḵala ʔāḵaru fajaʕala yadlikunī dalkan yakuddu l-ʕiẓāma, wayaḡmizunī ḡamzan yahuddu l-ʔawṣāla wayuṣaffiru ṣafīran yaruššu l-buzāqa, ṯumma ʕamada ʔilā raʔsī yaḡsiluhu, waʔilā l-māʔi yursiluhu.
He set off and was out for eons; then he leisurely dawdled back. "I picked it the way you pictured it", he said. So off we trod to the bathhouse down the road, but thereat I could not see its keeper. Still, in, I went, at my rear some man, and the man reached down for a clump of mud and smeared with it my brow then placed it upon my head. Then off, he went, and in came another, and the other set to, a kneading that jars the bones, a jabbing that wrecks the joints, a whistling that sprayed me with spit. Then he reached for my head to wash, and for the water to splash.
