From Proto-Indo-Iranian , a suffixed form of Proto-Indo-European *lek- (“to bend, leg”).[1] Cognate with Ancient Greek λάξ (láx, “with the leg/heel”), Ancient Greek λᾰκτῐ́ζω (lăktĭ́zō, “to kick”); Sanskrit लकुट (lakuṭa, “stick, club”); Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀮𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀸 (lattā, “kick”), the latter probably from an unattested Sanskrit word for "to kick".[2]
