Borrowed from Parthian nʾz (nāz, pleasure, delight) or inherited from Middle Persian (nʾz- /⁠nāz-⁠/, to take pleasure, to delight, whence the verb نازیدن (nâzidan)), both from Proto-Iranian *nāz- (to be coquettish). No Indo-European etymology per Cheung 2007.
