Persian
Etymology
From earlier form نوشادر (nôšâdor) from Middle Persian 𐭠𐭭𐭥𐭱𐭠𐭲𐭥𐭥𐭩 (*ʾnwšʾdwr /*anōšādur/, “immortal fire”), combinated from 𐭠𐭭𐭥𐭱 (anōš /ʾnwš/, “elixir, antidote”, literally “immortal”) (compare Old Armenian անոյշ (anoyš)) and 𐭠𐭲𐭥𐭥𐭩 (ʾdwr' /ādur/, “fire”). Cognate with Sogdian (nwšʾʾtr /nōšātar/). Middle Armenian անուշադր (anušadr), Classical Syriac ܐܢܘܫܕܘܪ (ʾnwšdwr) are Iranian borrowings.
