From the root सिच् (sic), from Proto-Indo-European *seykʷ- (“to spill, pour; moisten, filter”). Cognate with Ancient Greek ἰκμᾰ́ς (ikmás, “moisture, wetness”), Proto-Slavic *sьcati (“to piss”); Proto-Germanic *saiwiz whence English sea.

     त्वे ध॒र्माण॑ आसते जु॒हूभि॑: सिञ्च॒तीर्इ॑व।
     कृ॒ष्णा रू॒पाण्यर्जु॑ना॒ वि वो॒ मदे॒ विश्वा॒ अधि॒ श्रियो॑ धिषे॒ विव॑क्षसे॥

     tvé dharmā́ṇa āsate juhū́bhi: siñcatī́riva.
     kṛṣṇā́ rūpā́ṇyárjunā ví vo máde víśvā ádhi śríyo dhiṣe vívakṣase.

     Those having (you) as their foundation flames sit upon you, pouring out with their tongues like women pouring with their ladles. Black and silver forms and all beauties do you put on. In my exhilaration I wish to acclaim you.
