กรมธรรม์

From กรม (grom, “law; regulation; rule”) +‎ ธรรม์ (“law; regulation; rule”).

The second sense was probably first used on 11 November 1925, when the third book of the Civil and Commercial Code of Thailand was promulgated.

กรมธรรม์ • (grom-má-tan)

1. (law and archaic) document embodying a contract.
2. (law) policy: document embodying a contract of insurance.
   • 1928, พระราชกฤษฎีกาให้ใช้บทบัญญัติแห่งประมวลกฎหมายแพ่งและพาณิชย์ บรรพ ๓ ที่ได้ตรวจชำระใหม่ ลงวันที่ ๑ มกราคม ๒๔๗๑‎:

     มาตรา ๘๖๗...ให้ส่งมอบกรมธรรม์ประกันภัยอันมีเนื้อความต้องตามสัญญานั้นแก่ผู้เอาประกันภัยฉบับหนึ่ง

     mâat-dtraa bpɛ̀ɛt rɔ́ɔi hòk-sìp jèt...hâi sòng-mɔ̂ɔp grom-má-tan bprà-gan-pai an mii nʉ́ʉa-kwaam dtɔ̂ng dtaam sǎn-yaa nán gɛ̀ɛ pûu-ao-bprà-gan-pai chà-bàp nʉ̀ng

     Section 867...A copy of the insurance policy bearing the same content as the contract shall be delivered to the insured.

     มาตรา ๘๖๗...กรมธรรม์ประกันภัยต้องลงลายมือชื่อของผู้รับประกันภัยและมีรายการดังต่อไปนี้ (๑) วัตถุที่เอาประกันภัย (๒) ภัยใดซึ่งผู้รับประกันภัยรับเสี่ยง (๓) ราคาแห่งมูลประกันภัย ถ้าหากได้กำหนดกันไว้ (๔) จำนวนเงินซึ่งเอาประกันภัย (๕) จำนวนเบี้ยประกันภัยและวิธีส่งเบี้ยประกันภัย (๖) ถ้าหากสัญญาประกันภัยมีกำหนดเวลา ต้องลงเวลาเริ่มต้นและเวลาสิ้นสุดไว้ด้วย (๗) ชื่อหรือยี่ห้อของผู้รับประกันภัย (๘) ชื่อหรือยี่ห้อของผู้เอาประกันภัย (๙) ชื่อของผู้รับประโยชน์ ถ้าจะพึงมี (๑๐) วันทำสัญญาประกันภัย (๑๑) สถานที่และวันที่ได้ทำกรมธรรม์ประกันภัย

     Section 867...The insurance policy must be signed by the insurer and contain the following items: (1) the subject of the insurance; (2) the risk taken by the insurer; (3) the value of the insurable interest, if fixed; (4) the sum insured; (5) the amount of the premium and the methods of its payment; (6) the commencing time and terminating time of the insurance contract, if it is governed by a time limit; (7) the name or trade name of the insurer; (8) the name or trade name of the insured; (9) the name of the beneficiary, if any; (10) the date of conclusion of the insurance contract; (11) the place and date of making of the insurance policy.
