Within Kra-Dai, compare Sui qdyubs, Proto-Be *zipᴰ¹, Proto-Hlai *Cuɾiːp (whence riːp⁷~viːp⁷~fiːp⁸ across the different lects). Compare Proto-Austronesian *(ma-)qudip (to live; to be alive).
