However, there's a strong resemblance to the word for "ladder" in other Burmish languages, such as Pela(tsam⁵⁵ thɔ̃⁵⁵) and Lhao Vo(tsam³¹ thɔ̃³¹). If related, then the first syllable derives from Proto-Lolo-Burmese*m-dzam¹(“bridge”), from Proto-Tibeto-Burman*m-dzam(“bridge, ladder”).
