From Proto-Lolo-Burmese *takᴴ (sharp), from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *m-tak (sharp). Cognate with Rawang taq and Naxi tal (STEDT). Luce additionally gives Old Chinese (OC *sklɯɡ, *skʰrɯɡ, “sharp, clear, distinct”) as a cognate.[1]
