Said Tibeto-Burman root is likely related to Proto-Sino-Tibetan *d-gra (“stranger, enemy”), whence Tibetan དགྲ (dgra, “enemy”) and Old Chinese 旅 (OC *ɡ·raʔ, “guest, stranger, traveler; to travel, lodge”) (STEDT).
