Uncertain. Possibly from ჯუ̂იდ ← *ჯუ̂ილ ← *ჩუ̂ილ (ǯûid ← *ǯûil ← *čûil), from Proto-Kartvelian *c₁wil-.[1][2] See Čuxua for examples of დ ← *ლ (d ← *l) in Svan.[3]
