The suffix "-ίκη" is found also in ἑλίκη (helíkē) and μυρίκη (muríkē, “tamarisk”). A connection with Proto-West Germanic *natilā (“nettle”) has been proposed. Alternatively it might be a substrate word, maybe from Pre-Greek.
