Ancient Greek

This aorist's stem is a syncope ἐλθ- (elth-) of weak stem ἐλυθ- (eluth-) of unused verb *ἐλεύθω (*eleúthō, “Ι come”) as in Epic ἐλῠθεῖν (elutheîn), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁ludʰét (“to arrive”). Discussion of stems at ἔρχομαι Notes.
