Chinese
Pronunciation
Proper noun
流便
- (Protestantism) Reuben
Usage notes
Newer editions of the Chinese Union Version have changed the translation from 流便 (Liúbiàn) to 呂便/吕便 (Lǚbiàn) due to the possible vulgar connotation of the former, which could be interpreted literally as 流 (liú, “to flow”) + 便 (biàn, “human waste”), i.e. “to have diarrhea”.[1]
