Etymology

Compare འཛུགས ('dzugs, to insert; to plant) (Sagart, 2017d; Hill, 2019), which STEDT derives from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *m-(d)z(j)u(ː)k (to pierce; to plant; to erect).

Sagart (2017) also compares it to Jingpho achyo (to stab).
