• Inside Chinese, cognate with 翟 (OC *r'aːwɢ, *l'eːwɢ, “long-tailed pheasant”) and 雒 (OC *ɡ·raːɡ).
• Outside Chinese, cognate with Burmese ရစ် (rac), Tibetan སྲེག་པ (sreg pa, “partridge”), Mizo va-hrit. & possibly Chepang (rut-waʔ).
