Compound of (ゆき) (yuki, snow) + () (tsuri, hanging, slinging), the (れん)(よう)(けい) (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of the verb () (tsuru, to hang something, to suspend something).[1][2][3] The tsuri changes to zuri as an instance of rendaku (連濁).

Occasionally also encountered without rendaku, as yukitsuri.
