Altered form of Proto-Germanic *sehtΓ΄ (whence Old Norse sΓ©tti and Old High German sehto) with the *s inserted by analogy with πƒπŒ°πŒΉπŒ·πƒ (saihs, β€œsix”). Identical in formation to Old English sixta and Old High German sehsto, and close to Koine Greek ἕκτος (hΓ©ktos), which it translates.
