- I tend to agree - I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed Garfield way back when - actually, what brought it back to my attention was watching Garfield on Saturday morning a few weeks ago over break w/my 9 and 5 year old cousins. It was pretty good. I've only noticed a slight improvement in the daily quality, but perhaps Jim Davis or whomever does the comedy has reached the point where he's better at longer, skit-type humor, either of the 8-minute cartoon variety or of the more-than-3-panels variety.

- I don't like reading Garfield anymore. It's the same jokes over and over. For 20 years! I remember when Garfield, Jon, and Odie used to go to the beach, and when Nermal would come over. Those were interesting. I also like the stories that used to happen a long time ago. If Jim Davis can't come up with any new ideas, he should stop writing the strip. Any strip is charming if it's jokes and story lines aren't constantly rehashed, several times over. I quit reading Garfield, because I know I'll probably find the same joke in some old book.

- And I think your friend needs to re-evaluate his position too... by his (quite narrow-minded) definition, anyone who enjoys reading Garfield strips or watching Bugs Bunny cartoons is also a pervert. After all, those have talking animals in them, so clearly their fans must be depraved sleazebags to him.

AM incarnation (as a secondary cartoon for "Garfield and Friends") was somewhat amusing..the only place where "US Acres" had anything vaguely resembling success apparently (and the last place where Garfield was given something to do other than smash spiders, it seems).
