Luxembourgish
Etymology
Possibly inherited from Middle High German dugent, from Old High German *dugundi, northern variant of tugundi, from Proto-Germanic *dugunþō. Cognate with Dutch deugd, English douth. The form is phonetically regular, but the Rheinisches Wörterbuch considers both this word and the rhyming Jugend (“youth”) borrowings from German. At any rate, the predominant word in older Luxembourgish was Duucht, from Proto-West Germanic *duhti, which is a related but different formation.
