leppä +‎ vaara, calque of Swedish Alberga. It is said that the Finnish name was coined by Finnish actress, director and author Elli Tompuri, who was from Vehkalahti in southeastern Finland (Karelia), where the word vaara is used of the hills characteristic of the area.[1]
