Unknown. Most common around North Ostrobothnia, especially Pyhäntä, but there is also a place with the same name in Savonia near Mikkeli. It is not certain whether these two names are connected. Possibly comparable to North Ostrobothnian dialectal limmakka (“noise, ruckus”, noun), limmakoida (“to make noise, to make a ruckus”, verb).
