Virama

The virama mark ( ) acts incorrectly when the next word begins with a vowel. Also wrong if next word begins with a consonant, but is different.
അതുകൊണ്ട് എ, പേര് അ (atukoṇṭ e, pēr a)
അതുകൊണ്ട എ, പേര അ (atukoṇṭa e, pēra a)
അതുകൊണ്ട് ന, പേര് ന (atukoṇṭŭ na, pērŭ na)
അതുകൊണ്ട്, പേര്, (atukoṇṭŭ, pērŭ,) —Stephen (Talk) 01:20, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Stephen G. Brown: Word finally and before consonants, the Malayalam "virama" (which is an unsuitable name for this diacritic) actually does add a short "ŭ" sound, so the module works as intended. I was recently reading some books on Malayalam phonology so that's how I got to know of this behavior. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 14:40, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. But it acts differently depending on what follows. See above where we get atukoṇṭ e, atukoṇṭ, atukoṇṭŭ na. When followed by a vowel or punctuation, there is no -ŭ. The -ŭ appears only when followed by a consonant. —Stephen (Talk) 19:55, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Stephen G. Brown: The punctuation thing is a problem, it should be atukoṇṭŭ, pērŭ, but the rest works as intended. The ŭ is elided before vowels. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 01:34, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
