From personal name Neředa + possessive suffix -ín. The name Neředa comes from Old Czech Neřěda, which is from Neręda, which was probably formed by prefix ne- added to deverbative ręd- (“to dilute”). Another possibility is that Neředa might be derived by negating personal name *Řed or *Ředa, which could be a hypocorrect shortening of a compound personal name Ředivoj or Ředihost.^[1]

Neředín belongs to the group of morphologically related toponyms occurring in the surrounding of the cities Olomouc and Přerov which begin with the negative prefix ne-,^[1] compare for example Nelešovice, Nemilany, Neplachov or Nepřívaz.
